Cooks River Forest Today

After the Rail Lines

The development will significantly fragment the bush.

  • Before: For every metre of forest edge there is 19.5 square metres in area of forest
  • After: For every metre of forest edge there is 15 square metres in area of forest

This means the forest is at much greater risk. The impacts of more edge to less area of native bush are well documented. There is now 30% more edge compared with the area of the forest. It is unlikely that the smaller fragments will survive.
